Hi Laura,
I have a somewhat personal problem that I’m finding it really hard talking to my mates about. They’re not really the sort of guys who talk about things. Basically I’ve noticed that I’m starting to smell, no matter what I do! I shower twice a day, and I only work in an office, but I always smell a bit.
My mates have all been taking the piss out of me about it, and until recently, I thought it was a joke. Then, one night, to my horror, I saw my girlfriend’s phone on the bed when she was in the shower. I found a message to some guy called Steve, I don’t know who he is, or if anything’s going on; but I was really upset by what she was writing.
The two of them were clearly talking about my problem. She wrote “yeah, I just usually make sure he leaves the windows open ha, ha.”
I don’t have the guts to confront her about it. I’m frightened she might be seeing this guy behind my back, but if I told her, she’d know I was going through her phone.
I don’t want to lose her, but I don’t know how to stop this smell. I’ve even started making excuses so I don’t have to be naked around her.

This is clearly causing you problems in your personal life. Please try not to worry too much. You’re not alone with this problem.
There are many ways to combat this common problem. Try cleansing with a deep pore cleanser in the problem areas. I would recommend Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-Deep Thermal Refinisher. This is a self heating cleanser that expands the pore giving a more thorough clean. By doing this, you will break down the older skin on the top layer of your body, allowing the newer skin underneath to break through. This should help release some of the pent up odour in your body.
If this is really getting you down, I would also recommend speaking to your local GP. They may be able to give you an alternative for a short term solution.
Long term look into deep cleansers, wearing loose breathable fabric, and try a light splash of aftershave since this can have longer lasting effects than that of normal off the shelf deodorants.
Using deodorants is often perceived as a solution to body odour, whereas in fact, many deodorants close the pours of the skin, stopping it from breathing. All this means is that the smell is still contained in your body, it’s just blocked inside there. By using pour cleansing products, you can release the smell and really get a deep down freshness that a deodorant simply won’t do. Finish it off with a nice splash of after shave (such as my personal favourite – Hugo Boss green) and I’m sure, if your girlfriend is human, she’ll be delightfully impressed.
